The fall semester just ended, and many of you might already be preparing for or looking for a job. One tip I’d like to share is to consider booking an appointment at the immigration office now. I’m an undergraduate student, and I was also planning to get a job right after graduation. However, since there are many variables and possibilities of not securing a job immediately, I thought about applying for a D-10 visa first too. That way, I could do some part-time work or explore other opportunities. Regardless, after graduation, I would still need to renew my visa. Here’s an important note: usually, the D-2 visa is only valid for one month after the graduation date. So, as a reminder, you should book your appointment early. In my case, I booked my immigration office visit in early November, right after my graduation day. Initially, I planned to apply for the D-10 visa in case I didn’t secure a job. However, I ended up getting a job before graduation, so I applied for the E-7 visa the day after graduation instead. The key takeaway is that once you’ve booked your appointment at the immigration office, you don’t need to worry about your visa application process, even if your plans change. What about your experiences?
